  4. Size    As for file size, I try to use single screen hypertext files for the
  5. ====    following reasons:

  7.           (1)   Smaller units of information are easier to comprehend in
  8.                 totality (necessary in making choices).  <link37>

  10.           (2)   Multi-screen files require memory and mental effort by users.
  11.  
  12.           (3)   Single screen formats require only four keys <link01> for
  13.                 complete exploration of the hypertext system.
  14.  
  15. Format  As for the screen formats, I use lists to show both the structure
  16. ======  of the contained information and to clearly identify the hypertext
  17.         jumps.  <link32 2>

  19. Jumps   As for hypertext jumps, I limit my hypertext jumps to 1-2 per paragraph
  20. =====   as any more may interfere with the readability of the text.

  22. Other   Finally, I use underlining, margin notes, and indented text to aid
  23. =====   readability.  However, I don't use other eye-movement tools (such as
  24.         lines, boxes, character graphics) in files that users may wish to print.
